Reporting to: Head of HSSE KSA – Construction

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the management and performance of the HSSE management system of under construction Renewables Projects to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements and good practices are effectively implemented. Demonstrates a strong understanding of ACWA Power vision, business strategies, operations, policy, procedure and functions that drive safe working environment & growth.

Roles & Responsibilities;

Implementing and demonstrating an effective occupational health safety, environmental and security management system and ensuring compliance with all legal, project requirements and ACWA Power standards by:

  1. Develop Cluster HSSE Programs in line with the functional strategy to ensure alignment with ACWA Power Leadership strategies.
  2. Proactively identify HSSE risks during the development phase of all the projects in the assigned cluster to ensure all possible risks are identified, evaluated and prioritized and corrective measures are finalized.
  3. Conduct regular management system gap assessments, inspections, to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  4. Participate in risk assessments and task reviews of key activities to support site teams and identify and prevent probable HSSE hazards leading to significant losses.
  5. Monitor the effectiveness of HSSE training at projects to ensure that the workers and all HSSE personnel are competent and effective.
  6. Conduct HSSE Workshops and specific training sessions during various phases of the project like LNTP, NTP, construction and commissioning
  7. Support Site HSE Managers in setting up the HSE Management system of the project
  8. Review Synergi life and other digital reporting dashboards to ensure that the Projects are continually improving their HSSE performance
  9. Collaborate with Country and site leaders to create site-specific safety action plans.
  10. Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and leadership support
  11. Support Project Team on HSSE issues and maintaining stakeholders’ engagement on occupational health safety, environmental and security subjects.
  12. Monitoring, evaluating, analysing and reporting on project HSSE performance and systems.
  13. Monitor trends in HSE findings and incidents to proactively address recurring issues
  14. Serve as the primary point of contact for all cluster safety-related matters.
  15. Perform any other duties which the line manager may require to be carried out. 

Job Specifications

Educational: 

  • Technical Degree/Diploma
  • CSP, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Lead auditor for ISO 14001, 45001

Minimum Experience: > 15 Years in Power/Desalination plants in construction.

Required Skills: 

 

  1. Knowledge of HSSE Management principles and arrangements.
  2. Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  3. Proven ability to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
  4. Knowledge of applicable relevant legal requirements in Saudi Arabia.
  5. Incident investigating, analytical and observation skills.
  6. Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  8. Ability to manage and work with people of all cultures
  9. Self-motivated, critical thinker
