Job Description: 

JOB PURPOSE:

Perform  safe  and  efficient  preventive  and  corrective  maintenance  on Vestas  V90  3MW  wind turbines  and  Balance  of  Plant  (BoP)  assets  in  accordance  with  OEM  requirements,  ACWA OPERATIONS policies, and site safety rules, ensuring high availability and reliability of the wind farm.

Key Accountabilities 

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

•  Strictly  comply  with  ACWA OPERATIONS  policies  and  procedures,  OEM  safety  instructions,  and customer/site rules.

•  Apply and maintain safe systems of work, including:

•  Permit to Work (PTW),

•  Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO),

•  Isolation & re-energization safety checks, and

•  Working-at-height, confined space, lifting operations controls (as applicable).

•  Report all incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions, and environmental spills/risks in line with ACWA OPERATIONS HSE policy.

•  Maintain high standards of housekeeping in turbines, workshops, warehouses, and work areas.

•  Maintain 5S in own work areas (turbine, workshop, warehouse staging) and ensure “as-left” condition after each task.

•  Ensure  correct  handling/disposal  of  waste  (oily  rags,  filters,  packaging)  and  report  any spill/leak immediately.

•  Maintain  assigned  vehicle  cleanliness  and  readiness;  perform  basic  daily  checks  (tires, lights, fluids if applicable) and report defects.

•  Operate  company  vehicles  in  full  compliance  with  traffic  rules  and  site  speed  limits; maintain safe driving behavior at all times (including outside the plant).

•  Use fuel cards responsibly and report any suspected misuse/loss immediately.

Operations and Maintenance

•  Wind Turbine Maintenance (WTG

Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on Vestas V90 3MW turbines in line with O&M procedures, ACWA OPERATIONS standards, and HSE requirements.

•  Perform  troubleshooting  and  diagnosis  of  turbine  faults  across  mechanical,  electrical, hydraulic, and basic control systems.

•  Repair/replace  defective  components  (as  per  competence  level),  including  but  not limited to: sensors, actuators, hydraulic components, yaw/pitch systems, brakes, cooling

systems, auxiliary power supply, and other turbine assemblies.

•  Conduct tests and measurements to identify root causes and restore equipment to service (electrical tests, functional tests, basic calibrations, etc.).

•  Use  of  check  sheets  +  photo  evidence  for  critical  jobs  (before/after,  torque  marking, damaged parts, oil leaks, corrosion, water ingress).

•  Condition monitoring sampling support when assigned (oil samples, wear debris, grease sampling) with correct labeling/traceability.

•  Standard “as-found / as-left” reporting in WO (measurements, alarms, cause hypothesis, parts used, next actions).

•  Environmental  controls:  spill  prevention  basics,  waste  segregation,  and  immediate reporting of leaks (hydraulic oil, transformer area, etc.).

•  Recognize  turbine  alarms/error  codes  and  ensure  accurate  reporting  and  appropriate escalation when needed.

•  Support  wind  turbine  controller/automation  basic  maintenance  and  repair  (within authorization and tool access).

•  BoP Maintenance (Substation / MV Collection / Auxiliaries)

•  Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for BoP equipment as assigned (MV/LV auxiliaries,  earthing,  lighting,  small  power,  HVAC  in  control  rooms,  auxiliary  transformers, etc.).

•  Assist/participate in high-voltage maintenance activities as authorized (switching support, inspections, basic checks) and always under applicable rules and permits.

Documentation & Reporting

•  Complete all required paperwork and system entries accurately and on time: Work orders, checklists, reports, test results, PTWs, and maintenance logs.

•  Document all maintenance and repair actions, including parts used, measurements taken, findings, and recommendations.

Tools, Spares & Assets Care

•  Use and maintain specialized tools and equipment properly (torque tools, test instruments, lifting accessories, hydraulic tools, etc.).

•  Ensure proper care and correct usage of company tools, vehicles, and PPE.

•  Support  spare  parts  handling:  identification,  consumption  recording,  and  feedback  for replenishment (as per site process).

•  Identifies  required  spare  parts  during  execution,  ensures  correct  parts  consumption  / reservation through the WO, and informs Technical Supervisor of any shortage or quality

issue observed.

•  Supports traceability by documenting parts used, measurements taken, and findings in the WO/report and returning unused/defective parts as per site process.

Lifting / Crane Support (When Applicable)

•  Assist with heavy lift activities, including basic rigging support, exclusion zone setup, and acting as banksman/spotter when trained and authorized.

Ensure lifting tools and accessories are inspected/certified before use.

Continuous Improvement & Skills Development

•  Demonstrate  willingness  to  continuously  build  skills  and  progress  toward  advanced troubleshooting and repair capabilities.

•  Participate in trainings, toolbox talks, and technical feedback loops to improve reliability and safety performance.

•  Complete assigned TQP/online trainings, review relevant meeting records, and maintain readiness for operational and safety responsibilities

Integrated Management System Adherence

•  Ensure  adherence  to  IMS  procedures  and  contribute  to  achieving  IMS  objectives  and targets at site level.

•  Support  IMS  audits  (internal/external)  and  ensure  timely  implementation  and  closure  of assigned corrective actions.

•  Support implementation of policies, procedures, and controls covering plant activities to meet procedural and legislative requirements.

•  Develop, update, and maintain work instructions and maintenance procedures relevant to wind farm operations and maintenance.

Relationship Management

•  Maintain  effective  working  relationships  with  internal  and  external  stakeholders  (Project Company,  ONEE,  OEM,  contractors,  service  providers,  local  authorities,  etc.)  with  high standards of business ethics.

•  Ensure  timely  coordination  and  communication  during  critical  site  issues  to  support seamless plant operations.

•  Comply  with  assigned  work  schedule,  on-call  duty,  and  approved  leave  plan;  notify supervisor  in  advance  in  case  of  constraints  and  ensure  proper  handover  and  job

continuity

Reporting

•  Ensure plant operational reports are prepared accurately and on time.

•  Ensure timely reporting in Synergi Life for site events, incidents, hazards, and actions, with regular follow-up until closure.

•  Ensure incidents are investigated and reported in line with ACWA OPERATIONS IMS requirements, and corrective actions are implemented to maintain high safety and performance levels.

Related Assignments

•  Perform any other duties assigned by the line managers, as required 

COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Works closely with the Site Maintenance Team (technicians, supervisor / planner), SCADA/Operations team, HSE team, and Warehouse/Storekeeper to coordinate safe work

execution (PTW/LOTO), turbine stops/returns to service, and spare parts availability.

External: Needs to build a rapport with relevant contractors and vendors, Project Company, External Auditors, Independent service providers (ISP), ONEE, OEM Representative...

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: 

Minimum Qualifications: DUT, BTS diploma/degree in electrical / Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent

Minimum Experience:

  • 4-7 years’ experience in wind sector overseeing operation and maintenance.
  • Or  2-3  years’  experience  as  a  Wind  Turbine  Technician  in  Vestas  V90  WTGs,  including extensive  experience  in  troubleshooting,  up  tower  repairs,  replacement  of  major components and operation (start/ stop/ reset) of WTGs.

Technical Skills:

•  Wind turbine troubleshooting + planned maintenance execution

•  MV/HV substation & BoP coordination (switchgear, protection, transformers, MV cables)

•  Basic  ability  to  read  technical  documentation,  electrical  diagrams,  and  maintenance procedures.
