Job Description: 

Scope 

To carry out Electrical repair and testing works as part of the maintenance, modification, overhauling and installation activities on the plant’s critical equipment (gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, exciters, pumps and their motors etc.) in accordance with standard operating procedures and industry best practices, HSE guidelines and quality standards to attain cost-effectiveness, functionality and reliability.

  • Carry out required instrument (measuring, wiring, cabling, de/reconnecting, meggering, testing, component replacing…) maintenance work according to NMES outage procedures/ as directed by Technical Field Advisor, Field Service Engineer or Outage manager to facilitate equipment overhaul in the foreseen timeframe.
  • Monitor and ensure the working condition of all NMES electrical tools and machinery in the NMES toolroom/tool container and report non-conformances to line Supervisor to facilitate effective repair/replacement/calibration of all NMES assets as per set Quality/ HSE standards.
  • Respond to on-site electrical failures and implement corrective actions in adherence with procedures and guidelines to reduce downtime and maximize functionality of equipment.
  • Trouble shoot using necessary tools and spare parts which include diagnosis, repairing and checking equipment for faults, unsafe operating conditions or failures and perform necessary routine repairs to facilitate uninterrupted operations and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose causes of equipment malfunction such as defective parts, bad adjustment, calibration, and take corrective measures in collaboration with line Supervisor.
  • Read and understand technical manuals, electrical/wiring diagrams and drawings and apply the knowledge to carry out maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, to support the outage/maintenance to assigned machine/engine/equipment
  • Be fully conversant with Lock-Out/Tag-Out/Test-Out (LOTOTO) procedures and permit receiver procedures
  • Perform the Electrical testing of Industrial Generators and motors under the supervision of the generator TA or outage manager.
  • Check the necessary stock levels of consumables on the job site to support effective inventory control and timely re-ordering.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical certificate / Associate’s Diploma in electrotechnical field, with focus on High Voltage AC (or equivalent through experience).

Minimum Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in instrumentation/controls as a technician in operations, maintenance and repair in a (power) plant or field service environment.

Skills

  • Practical Knowledge of relevant plant equipment
  • Practical knowledge of DCS principles, troubleshooting etc.
  • Strong awareness of HSE & quality standards
  • Teamwork and effective collaboration skills
