Job Title -Field Operator Transmission
Project / Location - NEOM Green Hydrogen Project – Saudi Arabia
Department -Operations & Maintenance
Reports To -Operations Supervisor / Shift Supervisor
Job Purpose
Responsible for the safe and reliable operation, inspection, monitoring, and basic maintenance of transmission systems and associated equipment, ensuring continuous power transmission in accordance with approved operating procedures, HSE requirements, and applicable grid standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Field Operations: Operate, monitor, and inspect transmission equipment, substations, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, isolators, protection systems, and associated electrical assets.

System Monitoring: Conduct routine field inspections, identify abnormal conditions, and report equipment faults, alarms, leaks, overheating, or other operational issues.

Switching Operations: Perform authorized switching, isolation, and restoration activities in accordance with approved procedures, permits, and switching programs.

Maintenance Support: Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including equipment isolation, testing, inspection, and safe restoration to service.

HSE & Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with company HSE policies, electrical safety procedures, Permit to Work (PTW) requirements, and applicable transmission/grid standards.

Emergency Response: Respond promptly to equipment failures, trips, alarms, and emergency situations and support troubleshooting and system restoration.

Documentation: Maintain accurate operational logs, inspection records, switching records, equipment status reports, and incident documentation.

Coordination: Coordinate with Control Room Operators, Maintenance, Engineering, Grid/Transmission Control, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient transmission operations.

Equipment Readiness: Verify the availability and operational condition of transmission equipment and promptly escalate defects that could affect system reliability.

Continuous Improvement: Support operational improvements, reliability initiatives, and implementation of best practices across transmission operations.
Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or a related discipline.

Electrical safety and switching authorization certification is preferred.

Knowledge of Saudi electricity transmission regulations and grid requirements is an advantage.
Experience
-
3–7 years of experience in electrical transmission, substations, power generation, renewable energy, or utilities.

Experience working with HV/EHV transmission systems and substations is preferred.

Experience in shift-based operations and high-voltage switching is an advantage.
Technical Competencies
-
Strong knowledge of HV/EHV electrical systems and substations.
-
Understanding of transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, busbars, CTs, PTs/VTs, protection systems, and earthing systems.

Knowledge of electrical protection, control, and SCADA systems.

Ability to read single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, and equipment schematics.

Knowledge of Permit to Work, Lockout/Tagout, switching, and electrical isolation procedures.

Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.

Familiarity with CMMS systems and operational reporting tools.
