Job Summary
The HSSE Supervisor is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. The role supports the organization's commitment to preventing incidents, protecting employees and assets, and ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements, client standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Supervise daily HSSE activities across project sites.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure compliance with company HSSE procedures, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and safety inductions for new employees.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessment activities.
- Stop unsafe work when necessary and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor permit-to-work systems and ensure compliance.
Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage events.
- Prepare detailed incident investigation reports.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain incident records and statistics.
Environmental Management
- Monitor environmental controls including waste management, pollution prevention, and spill response.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
- Conduct environmental inspections and audits.
- Promote sustainable work practices.
Security
- Coordinate site security requirements.
- Ensure access control procedures are followed.
- Report security incidents and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate emergency response during security-related events.
Compliance & Auditing
- Conduct internal HSSE inspections and audits.
- Track corrective actions until closure.
- Assist during client and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and company management systems.
Training & Awareness
- Deliver HSSE training programs.
- Conduct emergency drills and evacuation exercises.
- Promote safety awareness campaigns.
- Mentor supervisors and workers on safe work practices.
Emergency Response
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning.
- Coordinate emergency response teams.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available and inspected.
- Assist during fire drills, medical emergencies, and incident response.
Documentation
- Maintain HSSE records and documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSSE reports.
- Monitor inspection checklists and training records.
- Update risk registers and corrective action logs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional HSSE certifications are preferred (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA 30-Hour).
- First Aid and Fire Safety certification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of HSSE experience in construction, industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or oil & gas projects.
- Experience supervising field safety activities.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of environmental management practices.
- Understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong report writing and documentation abilities.
- Ability to conduct safety training and presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.

Working Conditions
- Primarily based at construction or industrial project sites.

Authority
The HSSE Supervisor has the authority to:
- Stop any work that presents an imminent danger to personnel, equipment, or the environment.
- Enforce compliance with HSSE policies and procedures.
- Recommend disciplinary action for repeated safety violations.
- Initiate corrective and preventive actions to eliminate identified hazards.
