Job Details

Position Title: Instrumentation & Control Technician

Reports To:

  • Administrative: Instrumentation & Control Supervisor

Function: Maintenance

 

Job Purpose

To carry out maintenance, installation, overhauling and modification activities on plant instrumentation and control systems and equipment in accordance with standard maintenance procedures, HSE guidelines and quality standards to attain effective functionality and reliability.

Key Accountabilities

Instrumentation and Control Maintenance

  • Carry out routine preventative instrumentation and control maintenance work according to established schedules and NOMAC procedures.
  • Monitor the physical condition of systems and equipment in the assigned plant and report non-conformances to the Instrumentation and Control Supervisor.
  • Respond to instrumentation and control failures and implement corrective actions in accordance with procedures and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot using required tools and spare parts, including diagnosis, dismantling, repair, part replacement, checking, cleaning, and reassembly.
  • Diagnose causes of malfunction or failure of operational equipment such as control valves and transmitters and take corrective actions in coordination with the Instrumentation and Control Supervisor.
  • Read and understand technical manuals, control diagrams, and system drawings to perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate systems and equipment according to specifications and maintain records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.

Documentation

  • Update maintenance logbooks and record details of work performed, including defects, problems, findings, and equipment conditions.

  • Contribute to change initiatives, programmes, and projects in line with organizational standards.

  • Follow all relevant organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical Certificate / Associate Diploma in Instrument Engineering.

Minimum Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control Maintenance as a Technician in installation, maintenance, and engineering of electronic equipment and installations in a plant environment.

Skills

  • Practical knowledge of relevant plant equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of maintenance principles, including identification, classification, disposal of waste, and emission monitoring.
  • Awareness of HSE and quality standards.
  • Teamwork and effective collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of first aid measures.
