Position title: Machinery Engineer – Wind

Location: NEOM

 

About the Role

We are seeking a Machinery Engineer – Wind to support the operations and maintenance of a 1.7 GW wind farm at the NEOM Green Hydrogen Plant. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, integrity, and performance of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) through condition monitoring, mechanical maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires close collaboration with operations, maintenance teams, OEMs, and contractors to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable wind farm operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Condition Monitoring & Mechanical Maintenance

  • Develop and implement condition monitoring procedures and processes for WTGs.
  • Support WTG inspections, punch-list activities, and turnover documentation reviews.
  • Provide technical support throughout the lifecycle of WTGs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Analyze operational and machinery performance data to optimize maintenance strategies and improve reliability.
  • Define and continuously improve inspection and maintenance routines.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for abnormal operating conditions, failures, and trips, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyze Condition Monitoring System data and revise maintenance strategies when required.
  • Perform engineering studies and risk-based assessments to improve equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Initiate improvements to maintenance procedures to enhance safety, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support and lead investigations related to WTG equipment and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure the integrity and reliability of wind turbine equipment across the site.
  • Identify opportunities for sustainable optimization of WTG performance.
  • Deliver technical training to operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with internal departments, OEMs, and contractors.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor and maintain appropriate spare parts inventory levels to support maintenance requirements and operational continuity.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain maintenance records, logbooks, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
  • Record findings, equipment conditions, maintenance activities, and recommendations to support effective asset management.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

  • Comply with all health, safety, security, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives and promote a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with organizational procedures, standards, and change management requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair of industrial equipment within a plant environment.
  • Experience in wind turbine operations and maintenance is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Condition Monitoring techniques such as Vibration Analysis and Oil Analysis is considered an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and equipment reliability.
  • Practical knowledge of plant machinery and rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring systems and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of HSE and quality standards.

  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
