Position Title: Mechanical Technician
Reports to: Mechanical Engineer Department: Mechanical
Function: Mechanical Maintenance & Supporting Operations
Job Purpose
- Primary Objective:
To be based at site on an ON-OFF cycle, responsible for mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of all mechanical equipment at the site, including PV power generation & distribution systems, RO desalination plant, and bio-diesel generators. - Scope:
This is a dual role, primarily focused on maintenance, with additional responsibilities for operational support when required.
Key Accountabilities
- Policies & Procedures:
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and instructions for controlled and consistent work execution. - Safety, Quality & Environment:
Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards to safeguard personnel and maintain service quality. - Professional Responsibilities:
- Prompt troubleshooting and repair of mechanical breakdowns.
- Execute planned and reactive maintenance following approved procedures.
- Diagnose faults and repair mechanical systems.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and inventory.
- Ensure continuous plant operation with minimal downtime.
- Planning & Organizing:
- Independently plan and manage tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Deliver quality work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Proficient in mechanical systems, fault diagnosis, and use of test instruments.
- Knowledge of vibration monitoring, pump/motor alignment, welding, and RO plant equipment maintenance.
Job Context
The role requires independent work with remote guidance from the Mechanical Engineer. Must adhere to company safety standards and maintenance procedures at all times.

Maintain professional and cordial relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
Frameworks & Decision-Making Authority
- Responsible for isolations and permits to work.
- May act as Isolation Authority based on authorization, in coordination with the Central Operations Team.
- Support other disciplines when required.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma / HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum Experience:
5+ years in mechanical maintenance within power & desalination plants or similar industrial setups. - Job-Specific Skills:
- Expertise in pumps (including high-pressure), valves, welding (including Super Duplex), and generator auxiliaries.
- Knowledge of vibration analysis, alignments, heat exchangers, RO equipment, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings and troubleshoot effectively.
- Generic Skills:
- Proficiency in English (spoken & written).
- Familiarity with CMMS and MS Office tools.
- Strong understanding of health & safety systems.
