Job Summary:
Lead and manage the plant operating functions to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the CCGT power plant in accordance with established procedures, contractual requirements, production schedules, quality, cost, and performance objectives. The role is responsible for operational planning, workforce management, plant performance, HSE and IMS compliance, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement of operating activities.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise plant operations, including normal operation, plant start-up, shutdown, planned outages, and emergency operating activities, ensuring the safety of personnel, equipment, and the environment.
  • Ensure efficient plant operation and achievement of production schedules and established operational and performance standards, while monitoring operating parameters and maintaining effective operational reporting.
  • Participate in technical decisions related to plant design criteria, specifications, operating methods, modifications, and improvements, and recommend changes to procedures and schedules where required.
  • Manage operating resources, workforce allocation, competency development, performance evaluation, training, and on-the-job development to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare and monitor the plant operating budget and cost control activities, and conduct regular operational meetings to review progress, priorities, issues, schedules, and required actions.
  • Ensure effective implementation of IMS, HSE, environmental, legal, PTW, waste management, PPE, hazard risk assessment, and environmental aspect-impact requirements within the area of responsibility.
  • Lead investigation of incidents, non-conformances, deviations, and operational issues, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor contractors and subcontractors, support emergency preparedness and mock drills, report IMS and operational performance to management, and drive achievement of plant objectives and continuous improvement.

 

Job Specifications:

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering with a specialization in Power Plant Engineering is preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 13–16 years of relevant experience in power generation, desalination, or RO plants.
  • Experience in CCGT or similar power generation plants is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in similar plants in the Middle East is preferred.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of CCGT and power plant operations.
  • Good knowledge of HSE, Quality, and Environmental Management System principles and applicable legal requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of hazard risk assessment, environmental impact assessment, waste management, spill containment, and HSE emergency management.
  • Strong investigation, root cause analysis, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

 

Work Conditions:

Site-based role, at a remote power plant location.
