Job Summary:
Provide overall leadership and direction to the plant organization to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations and maintenance, optimum utilization of resources, and achievement of production and performance targets. The role is accountable for the plant’s operational, financial, contractual, people, HSE, IMS, supply chain, and stakeholder performance while ensuring compliance with company standards and contractual obligations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the plant strategy and operational plans in alignment with the company’s O&M strategy, monitor plant performance, and provide comprehensive operational, financial, manpower, and performance reporting to senior management and the Board.
- Lead the overall operations and maintenance functions, production planning, plant availability, operating efficiency, technical performance, and resolution of operational and maintenance issues to ensure achievement of approved production targets.
- Manage the plant operating budget and financial performance, including cost control, productivity, resource optimization, profitability, and compliance with project financial and contractual obligations.
- Lead workforce planning and people management, including recruitment, performance management, objective setting, talent development, coaching, mentoring, and succession to maintain a competent and motivated plant organization.
- Provide technical and operational direction on plant performance, root cause analysis, investigations, risk areas, major and minor plant changes, and reliability improvement initiatives, ensuring appropriate actions are implemented.
- Oversee supply chain and contractor activities, including inventory requirements, purchase requisitions and orders, strategic spares, materials, services, equipment, manpower, and contractor performance in accordance with approved authority and HSSE requirements.
- Ensure effective implementation and compliance of SAP processes, IMS objectives and programs, HSE requirements, applicable legislation, policies, procedures, controls, audits, and corrective actions across the plant.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Project Company, Board, shareholders, OEMs, contractors, vendors, local authorities, auditors, and other stakeholders, while driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and technological improvements.
Job Specifications:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in managing a production plant.
- Extensive operational and management experience in power generation and/or water desalination plants.
- Experience in CCGT power plants and utility-scale power generation operations and maintenance is highly preferred.
Required Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of power generation plant operations and maintenance, with strong understanding of plant performance, reliability, and production planning.
- Strong techno-commercial knowledge, including contracts, agreements, financial metrics, budgets, costs, profitability, and contractual obligations.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, analytical thinking, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain, contractor management, SAP processes, IMS, HSE, and operational governance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, influencing, presentation, mentoring, coaching, and people management skills.
- Strong planning, organizing, integration, teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement capabilities.
Work Conditions:
Site-based role, at a remote power plant location.
