Executive Manager TS Green Hydrogen

JOB PURPOSE:

Drive and lead multidisciplinary Technical Services team of Green Hydrogen (GH2) and Hydrogen Derivatives (ammonia, methanol etc) for China geography for origination and development of large scale GH2 derivatives project like green ammonia, green methanol projects including biomass gasification-based bio-methanol or industrial CO2 based e-methanol projects in China. Take overall responsibility for achieving safe, fit for purpose and optimized designs, while ensuring techno-commercial risks are mitigated. Working closely with Global GH2 Product Line – TS, and various internal stakeholders like Business Development (BD), Strategic supply chain and contracting (SSC), Construction GH2, Project Finance etc and external stakeholders like design institutes, EPCs, Licensors etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Develop China GH2 – TS Capability
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Add required resources to deliver on the TS accountabilities while maintaining a lean team structure.
  • Develop structured know-how on relevant technologies and its players like licensors, OEMs, design institures to support in project development.
  • Stay updated on China’s technical standards and regulatory framework.
• Assist in Project Development
  • Drive and guide a multidisciplinary team (internal team and external support like design institute, advisors) to ensure techno commercial risks are mitigated and take overall responsibility for achieving safe, fit for purpose and optimized designs, while ensuring techno-commercial risks are mitigated.
  • Lead all aspects of engineering related to green methanol (biomass gasification, bio methanol, e-methanol) and green ammonia plants including electrolyzer plants within green hydrogen derivatives project
  • Carry out and involve in Licensor and OEM assessment and selection along with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Lead technical feasibility study, Front-end and detailed engineering work related to green methanol and green ammonia projects.
  • Own the technical assumption book for project financial analysis.
  • Develop and own Owner Technical specifications for green hydrogen derivatives plant.
  • Supervise engineering work undertaken by consultants and contractors throughout the development of the Green Hydrogen & derivatives projects.
  • Performance guarantee and testing schedule development and/or review to ensure plant performance is ascertained before takeover of plant.
  • Drafting of RfPs for external studies, assist in appointing consultants, engineering firms, design institutes, EPCs etc (as and when required)
  • Review the process of deliverables prepared by the Engineering Vendor and be responsible for ensuring the quality & completeness of deliverables.
  • Support other new green hydrogen derivatives (other than ammonia and methanol) related process engineering works as the company projects evolve.
• Contract Review Support

Working closely within the development team, TS China, TS – Global GH2 Product Line, SSC (Strategic supply chain and contracting) and other departments in Review and amendment if required of project documents like

• • Off-take agreement,
  • EPC Term sheet, EPC Contract
  • O&M Term sheet, O&M Contract,
  • etc.
• Risk & Opportunity Identification
  • Identify all risks and opportunities with respect to project including design, engineering related as well as topics during the operational lifetime and define proper risk mitigations.
• Assisting the Project Closing Process  
  • Provide all technical support with Lenders technical due diligence to enable project financing.
  • Provide required support and information related to insurance, equity partner and other related stake holder.
  • Assist in Project Hand-over to Execution & Construction team.
• Support during construction & operations
  • Provide as and when required engineering support to Project Company or Construction team during project construction phase and operations team during operations phase.

COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

• Internal:
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams within TS – China and TS – Global GH2 Product Line and internal stakeholders like Business Development team, Supply Chain & Contracting, Costing & Planning, O&M, and Project Companies.
• External:
  • Needs to build rapport and work closely with Design Institutes, EPC contractors, Technical Consultants & Advisors, Licensors/OEMs and partners/co-developers.
• Language:
  • Chinese fluency is a must and Decent English reading, speaking and writing capability for reporting and stakeholder discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & REQUIREMENTs:

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field.
  • Specialization in Chemical Engineering.
  • Master’s degree will be considered a plus.
• Minimum Experience:
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in chemical industry with preference in methanol and/or ammonia plants process engineering and ammonia plants.
  • Experience with Basic Engineering, Pre-FEED and FEED package development.
  • Experience on optimization of design and operation of process units of chemical facility, and if on green hydrogen and derivates plant will be a plus.
  • Experience with chemical industry design institutes and EPCs.
  • Experience with methanol licensors and ammonia licensors will be a plus.
  • Experience of ammonia plant and/or methanol plant design for green ammonia/methanol facility will be a plus.
  • Experience with safety studies including Hazop, Hazid etc of process plants.
  • Knowledge of Chinese technical standards for green hydrogen and derivatives production (methanol, ammonia). International technical standards knowledge is a plus.
  • Having professional working experience in Brown Field projects in addition to Green Field projects
• Other Requirements:
  • Available to travel for work within China primarily but occasionally internationally as well.
