JOB TITLE:

Manager – Technical Services (Wind)

JOB PURPOSE:

As a Wind Manager, you will support wind resource assessment and techno-commercial matters related to business development and project acquisition in close coordination with Technical Service Business Development, the technical and BD organisations, Portfolio management, and O&M.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Risk & Opportunity Analysis

  • Act as a wind resource expert and related matters of the Bid/acquisition in order to improve the Bid/ acquisition proposal and support the team leader on day-to-day matters.
  • Design and develop a met-masts measurement campaign.
  • Undertaking wind data analysis, annual energy yield assessment, turbine layout optimization, noise and shadow assessment. Knowledge in offshore is a plus.
  • Activities include business development-related review of RFQ, RFP, risk matrix, dispatch analysis, etc.
  • Provides assistance to BD and APF as requested by the Project leader for business development-related activities.
  • Apply accurate risk & opportunity mapping for each project in order to understand the risk & opportunity profile and define proper risk mitigation with regards to performance aspects of Wind Projects by taking input from CTO office on technical aspect of wind resource assessments; Preparation of techno-commercial documents requirements.
  • Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the renewable energy / Wind industry and communicate key trends, risks, and potential impacts to respective stakeholders and cover the risk mitigation action in relevant contract documents.
  • Support for accurate risk & opportunity mapping for each project in order to understand the risk & opportunity profile and define proper risk mitigation about performance aspects of Wind Projects by taking input from the CTO office.
  • Assist BD on the wind farm site identification and desktop site assessments.
  • Perform the technical due- diligence of the turbine.
  • Provide support to the ESIA activity during the development phase.
  • Optimisation of technical configuration of the wind farm to get lower LCoE.
  • Manage the 3rd party consultant during the project development phase.
  • Review of EPC technical proposals (versus industry benchmarks and OTS);
  • Manage technical and techno-commercial issues with EPC, Clients, Lenders, and Insurers.
  • Provide support to BD during the bid and PPA execution stage.
  • Support the BD team during the EPC/TSA contract negotiation.
  • Support on financial closure requirements.

COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

Working with the BD BU, and closely with CTO team members, Portfolio management team and the O&M specialists.

External:

Build a rapport with EPC contractors and OEM and maintain a relationship to allow staying up-to-date with the latest market dynamics.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (Electrical and Mechanical) or related field. Master’s degree will be considered a plus.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of extensive experience in wind resource assessment.
  • Experience with using Windographer and Openwind for energy yield assessments.
  • Experience in using CFD tools for energy yield assessments.
  • Experience with using GIS tools such as Global mapper and QGIS.
  • Strong knowledge of LCOE optimization Wind projects with proven credentials in dealing with wind turbine manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of wind turbine certification and also with site-specific design assessments.
  • Experience with consultants in managing the pre-development, development, and financial closure stages of work.
  • Strong knowledge of the technical and techno-commercial aspects of windfarm and processes related in general is mandatory and key for the execution of this work. The knowledge shall come with the proven ability to identify the effect of the technical proposal of each contractor according to ACWA Power in the overall costing and of the entire plant.
  • Extensive knowledge of and exposure to specific areas and power industries is a basic pre-requisite with experience in competitive EPC contracting. Experience with IPP is considered a plus.
  • Interface knowledge of energy yield assessment.
