Job Summary

Ensure that the plant operates at maximum performance, efficiency, and effectiveness by coordinating and monitoring plant operations activities.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure implementation of effective and efficient policies and procedures related to Power and Desalination Plant operations.
  2. Monitor daily plant performance and ensure all operating parameters remain within specified limits. Recommend and follow up on acid cleaning of the Desalination Plant when required.
  3. Carry out troubleshooting in coordination with Operations staff across Power and Desalination Plants.
  4. Coordinate with the Shift Charge Engineer and Chief Chemist to identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency through operational changes, subject to Operations Manager approval.
  5. Recommend and follow up on distillate stage sampling when required and interpret results where tube leakage is suspected.
  6. Conduct detailed plant inspections during annual maintenance and follow up on annual maintenance activities.
  7. Prepare monthly plant performance summaries and reports.
  8. Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact Assessments and Hazard Risk Assessments are conducted, controlled, and regularly updated.
  9. Implement, monitor, and report Integrated Management System (IMS) objectives, targets, and programs.
  10. Provide the necessary resources for the effective implementation and sustainability of the IMS.
  11. Report IMS performance to management periodically.
  12. Ensure legal compliance within the scope of assigned activities.
  13. Identify root causes of non-conformances and deviations and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  14. Identify competency gaps among subordinate personnel and implement the necessary development actions.
  15. Conduct annual performance evaluations for reporting employees.
  16. Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  17. Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.
  18. Identify, document, and control hazards within assigned work areas.
  19. Ensure identified environmental aspects are monitored and required operational controls are followed.
  20. Report deviations in the Integrated Management System, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  21. Report emergencies, incidents, and near misses in accordance with established procedures.
  22. Ensure effective utilization of available resources.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Educational

Desired

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is a must.

Preferred

  • Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, preferably with specialization in Power Plant Engineering.

Minimum Experience (Type and Duration)

Minimum

  • 4–8 years of experience in Power, Desalination, and/or RO Plants.

Preferable

  • Experience in the Middle East.

  11. Strong analytical skills.
  12. Problem-solving skills.

Desired Certification / Job Specific Skill / Training

  • SAP working knowledge is preferred.
  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.
